The Town of Huntington Housing Authority (HHA) seeks a highly qualified Executive Director to lead and manage the authority’s Section 8 Housing Choice Voucher, LIHTC and Low Rent Public Housing programs, a portfolio of 40 LIPH, 525 ACC S8 HCV units and 40 LIHTC units, 1 two family property and a staff of 5-6 full-time and 3 part-time employees. The HHA offers Subsidized Housing, Family Self-Sufficiency and ancillary programs.

The ideal candidate for this accomplished Housing Authority will have a proven track record of comparable management, organizational, financial accountability and interpersonal skills. They will be well versed in HUD rules and regulations and operating procedures. The ED will be expected to lead the HHA toward achieving Board established goals, creation of additional housing opportunities and continuing the high standards established by the present administration. The successful candidate will also be expected to identify non-HUD funds, grants, and other revenue streams to supplement HHA programs.

The position is responsible for the planning, organizing, directing and coordinating the staff, programs and activities of a public housing authority and for functioning as the secretary to the Housing Authority Board. The position requires a bachelor’s degree in Public Administration, Business Administration, Management or a closely related field from an accredited college or university. Five years of senior management experience in public/affordable housing, a related regulatory agency, or an equivalent combination of education and training is also required. Experience resulting in the ability to fulfill the essential job duties of the position or progressive top-level experience and education equivalent will be recognized. The HHA offers a comprehensive benefits package including health benefits, dental, vision, Life insurance, paid vacation, sick and holidays consistent with Board negotiated terms of employment and may require employee partial cost contribution. Salary for the position is a range of $110-$125 thousand annually at the discretion of the Board commensurate with experience. All full-time employees must participate in the NYS Pension system.

The successful candidate must secure the Public Housing Manager’s Certification from a bona fide Public Housing Manager Certification Program within one year of appointment.
